Penal Substitutionary Atonement: Part 2

I was moved so much by this last episode of the DL so much, I had to post it on my own website.  Here, James White is going through a Part 2 of his response to those who have a problem with the most important and most fundamental doctrine to Christianity, Penal Substitutionary Atonement.  I repeat, MOST FUNDAMENTAL!!!

I recently did my own commentary on PSA in response to a young YouTuber from the Eastern Orthodox tradition. He too slammed PSA in his video, and after I finished that response, I felt shaken up on how anyone could attack such a fundamental Biblical understanding of the Christian faith - while calling themselves, Christian.  That's never happen to me in all my responses on other debates, commentaries, as a podcaster.

At the 45:00 mark on the DL, James reads an ugly sentiment (to say the least) of someone who really has a problem with the doctrine of PSA... and this is one of my conclusions with many who reject PSA..

It's a dark and worldly, God-denying rejection of what God has done for us, and what Christ did for us at the cross.   I can't think of anything more sad!  It's demonic BLINDNESS not to see it in the reading of the NT as well as Isaiah 53!    All I can say is WOW!

Lord have mercy!  Open the eyes of the blind!

Many of these objections stem from the rejection of the knowledge of the depravity of man.   As well as a rejection of the knowledge of the thrice HOLINESS of God!    Lord, open the eyes of the blind!

I've always said, we need to know who God is by having a higher view of Scripture.  Unless we recognize how Holy our God is, we're NOT going to see how small, depraved, and UNHOLY we are!

It's no wonder why the attributes people seek of from "a god of their own making" is all about what pleases human sensibilities and emotions like,  "Love" ... because the god that people create for themselves can't  remind them of how great He is and how small and sinful we are.

Unfortunately for them, this is where true humility comes from.

God bless.

Wolf Pastors among us!

Let's follow along in the mind of a false pastor, a false shepherd, and how he shreds the truth of God while proclaiming to stand for Christianity.

This is the plague we have in Western society that allows secularism into our homes.

NO HOPE IN ISLAM

It's a religion that's meant to keep people submitting and proving oneself in struggling for Islam as well as works and repetitious religious rituals.   However, if one looks into the historicity of the texts and the inconsistency of its claims, there's no way that having the FREEDOM of leave or deny this religion without compulsion, death threats and blasphemy laws... people would not break free even more than they are now.

In many nations, freedom is happening (in the West, Iran, Yemen, Turkey, Africa, etc.).

Praying that The Holy Spirit of God will continue freeing people from the bondage of religious deception.

Is there assurance of salvation?

Is it a cult?

Is Muhammed a true prophet?

Once they learn, they leave!

What did our forefathers leave us?

On Today's Divine Nature Podcast, we're going to ask:

What did our Forefather's leave us?

A Republic?... A Democracy?

Also, we'll talk about something we find in The Word of God:  Romans Chapt. 9:  Paul says, "Not all Israel is descended from Israel"...

What was he talking about???

Is our historical Christian support for Israel wrong?  Is Christian support for Israel Biblical?

What say you???.... Do you support Israel because you believe the Bible instructs us to?  Feel free to leave an answer, question or comment below.

What about unreached people groups?

One of the questions people ask Christians is, "What about those who have never heard the Gospel, what's going to happen to them?"...

ALSO, "If God has already determined who will be saved, then why evangelize?".

My answer has to always be what I truly believe the Scriptures teach from the deepest part of my honest conviction.  Truly Biblical, truly honest, yet truly COLD, as only the truth can be.

I'm going to talk about this today on the

LIVE SHOW: Sola Scriptura ( @CapturingChristianity )

God willing, this Wednesday, May 21, at 11:30AM Catch my live on YouTube responding to @CapturingChristianity on his video against Sola Scriptura.

I'm going to go through his 9 video objections live and demonstrate how his 9- un-novel arguments against the Reformation doctrine / principle of Sola Scriptura isn't as easily refutable as so many believe.   Many young people have continued jumping on the Apostolic Church tradition band-wagon because of a personal, experiential, emotional and charismatic need to get closer to God through a greater sense of religiosity.  Seeking God and getting closer to God is a good thing but just as many make the mistake of seeking for God in cultural Christianity, others make the mistake of searching for God in incense, smoke, church bells, and other religious nuances simply to end up empty and false converts just the same.

Come and join me LIVE this Wednesday EITHER HERE OR ON YOUTUBE!
Don't forget to subscribe, like and share if you care!
God bless!

The EO Church trend

Check out my YouTube video: "Is Eastern Orthodoxy the New move?"

There are many Protestants moving towards EO but there are also many coming BACK to Protestantism because they found out what's behind the glam-bam, bling-blam; holy murals and cool garb!

The EO Church doesn't believe in the fallenness of man the way Protestants do.

They don't believe in Christ's atonement the same way.

Baptism and Salvation outside the EO church is not allowed... but it is, but not really.  Yet, they don't believe in an "invisible" Church.   It's complicated!

(This blog / video thread will keep growing so be sure to revisit for new video additions.)

PART 2:

=========================

Here's the account of Cyril Lucaris, an Eastern Orthodox who dared to go purely orthodox and apostolic, and was treated equally as his Master, Jesus before pharisees.

=================================

*There's nothing more apostolic than The Word of God.
*There is nothing infallible but the Word of God.

*The ultimate authority is The Word of God.

Check out these other videos on EO vs. Protestantism, debates and personal testimonies from people who have come back to Protestantism from the EO church system.

EO vs. Protestant Apologist, Matt Slick:

Another Matt Slick debate that later turns into a real dumpster fire.
Notice how the Roman Catholic can't stick to the agreed-upon debate topic, and immediately wants to appeal to the supposed infallibility of extra-Biblical sources.

=================

On The following video/podcast, Dr. James White and Pastor Jeff Durbin discuss the major problems with the Roman Catholic Church's stance on doctrines (in this case, the doctrine of eternal security but also other doctrines) where apostolic churches (in general) must regard tradition (as well as Church fathers and ecumenical church councils) as infallible instead of acknowledging that scripture alone is infallible, and sufficient as God's revelational truth.

Revelation: Millennial Kingdom?

Is there going to be a physical 1000 year reign of Christ on the earth?  If there is, then there seems to be other aspects of that 1000 year reign that you'll also have to accept will happen:

-The reinstating of a physical temple and it has to be in Jerusalem.

-The reinstating of a sacrificial Jewish system of worship (in spite of the scriptures speaking of the old covenant system as "types" and "shadows" of things to come, and having been fulfilled in Christ).

-Two final judgements and another human rebellion after the resurrection of the dead.  Where are those people going to come from?

*Big Biblical- hermeneutical problems indeed.

REFORMATION DAY 2024!

Reformation Day celebrates the joyful beauty of the liberating gospel of Jesus Christ.

A single event on a single day changed the world. It was October 31, 1517. Brother Martin, a monk and a scholar, had struggled for years with his church, the church in Rome. He had been greatly disturbed by an unprecedented indulgence sale. The story has all the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster. Let’s meet the cast.

First, there is the young bishop—too young by church laws—Albert of Mainz. Not only was he bishop over two bishoprics, he desired an additional archbishopric over Mainz. This, too, was against church laws. So Albert appealed to the pope in Rome, Leo X. From the De Medici family, Leo X greedily allowed his tastes to exceed his financial resources. Enter the artists and sculptors, Raphael and Michelangelo.

When Albert of Mainz appealed for a papal dispensation, Leo X was ready to deal. Albert, with the papal blessing, would sell indulgences for past, present, and future sins. All of this sickened the monk Martin Luther. Can we buy our way into heaven? Luther had to speak out.

But why October 31? November 1 held a special place in the church calendar as All Saints’ Day. On November 1, 1517, a massive exhibit of newly acquired relics would be on display at Wittenberg, Luther’s home city. Pilgrims would come from all over, genuflect before the relics, and take hundreds, if not thousands, of years off time in purgatory. Luther’s soul grew even more vexed. None of this seemed right.

Martin Luther, a scholar, took quill in hand, dipped it in his inkwell and penned his Ninety-Five Theses on October 31, 1517. These were intended to spark a debate, to stir some soul-searching among his fellow brothers in the church. The Ninety-Five Theses sparked far more than a debate. The Ninety-Five Theses also revealed the church was far beyond rehabilitation. It needed a reformation. The church—and the world—would never be the same.

One of Luther’s Ninety-Five Theses simply declares, “The Church’s true treasure is the gospel of Jesus Christ.” That alone is the meaning of Reformation Day. The church had lost sight of the gospel because it had long ago papered over the pages of God’s Word with layer upon layer of tradition. Mere tradition often brings about systems of works, of earning your way back to God. It was true of the Pharisees, and it was true of medieval Roman Catholicism. Didn’t Christ Himself say, “My yoke is easy and My burden is light”? Reformation Day celebrates the joyful beauty of the liberating gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is Reformation Day? It is the day the light of the gospel broke forth out of darkness. It was the day that began the Protestant Reformation. It was a day that led to Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Knox, and many other Reformers helping the church find its way back to God’s Word as the only supreme authority for faith and life and leading the church back to the glorious doctrines of justification by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It kindled the fires of missionary endeavors, it led to hymn writing and congregational singing, and it led to the centrality of the sermon and preaching for the people of God. It is the celebration of a theological, ecclesiastical, and cultural transformation.

So we celebrate Reformation Day. This day reminds us to be thankful for our past and to the monk turned Reformer. What’s more, this day reminds us of our duty, our obligation, to keep the light of the gospel at the center of all we do.

What is the doctrine of the perspicuity of Scripture?

The word perspicuity means “clarity.” To say that something is perspicacious is to say that it is clear. The doctrine of the perspicuity (clarity) of Scripture is one of the basic tenets of Protestant evangelicalism regarding the Bible, along with the doctrines of the inspirationinerrancy, and sufficiency of Scripture. In short, the doctrine of perspicuity means that the central message of the Bible is clear and understandable and that the Bible itself can be properly interpreted in a normal, literal sense.

The doctrine of the perspicuity of Scripture was a main belief of the Reformers. Martin Luther taught against the Roman Catholic claim that the Bible is imperspicuous, that is, too obscure and difficult for the common people to understand. The Bible, the priests and bishops taught, was unclear, and the people should not be trusted to interpret or even read it for themselves. On the contrary, the Reformers encouraged lay Christians to study and interpret God’s Word on their own. The Reformers believed that the Bible proclaimed itself to be inherently clear and that God is able to communicate His message to all men, even the unlettered. A main tenet of the Reformation is that Scripture is clear enough for the simplest person to live by. Because of their belief in the perspicuity of Scripture, men like John WycliffeWilliam TyndaleMartin LutherMyles CoverdaleThomas Matthew, and Pierre Olivétan went to great lengths to translate the Bible into the vernacular.

The Bible itself proclaims its own perspicuity. Deuteronomy 6:6–7 exhorts parents to teach the Scriptures to their children, indicating that they can be understood by children. The New Testament confirms this when the apostle Paul encourages Timothy to continue in the things he has known of the Holy Scriptures from childhood (2 Timothy 3:14–15a). Psalm 19:7 declares that the “testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple” (ESV). Surely, the simple cannot be made wise by something they are unable to understand. Psalm 119:130 further explains that God’s Word “gives understanding to the simple,” meaning that it is not necessary to be highly educated to comprehend its truths. The Bible’s meaning is clear to all.

The doctrine of perspicuity means the Bible is clear in its essential matters and able to expose to man that which is comprehensible to him about God—His nature, His character, His dealings with mankind in the past, and His plans for the future. The Bible is clear in all that is necessary for man to know in regard to his sinful state, his need for salvation, and the means of attaining that salvation, faith in Christ (Romans 3:22).

The doctrine of perspicuity does not mean that every passage of Scripture is equally clear as to its precise meaning. Certainly, there are passages that can be obscure to modern readers due to historical or cultural references. And some of the theology is difficult; Peter said that Scripture contains “some things that are hard to understand” (2 Peter 3:16). The perspicuity of the Word of God does not eliminate the need for interpretation, explanation, and exposition of the Bible by diligent scholars.

What IS the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

Whereas some believe the gospel is found in the definition of what is a true Christian, the definition of a true Christian (among many defining characteristics) isn't just someone who believes they can be free from sin but someone who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God.

Unless one is born again (John 3:3) they can't see the kingdom of God let alone conquer their sins.

Desiring to be free from sin is obviously to be coveted but it's not the gospel.

Our being free from sin is a consequence of believing the true gospel which is that we believe that Christ is the Son of God, The Creator, who came into the world to die for our sins and by faith, God, the Holy Spirit indwells us by God's grace.

Having made Him Lord of our lives.  We now walk in the Holy Spirit, purifying ourselves and growing in Christ to a mature stature towards the resembling of Christ's perfect moral standard, by God's grace and power.

We're saved by grace alone, through faith alone, and in Christ alone.   It is a gift of God and not of our merit or "good" works.

"Born this way'ism" is a lie

Is homo attraction sin? (Orientation, born this way, etc.)  All that is a lie. Homo attraction isn't the same as hetero attraction.

The Bible calls it unnatural. Lust can come from attraction. The attraction to a painting, flower, etc. IS a natural attraction.

One can change their mind on what once attracted them.

Can you change your mind on finding attraction in a flower? But can you change your mind about being attracted or infatuated to people. I believe we can.

To say it can't be done for homosexuals is to believe in the false "born this way'ism" being taught in the culture.  Even if an attraction persists, the grace of God will continue conforming a renewing mind to change. There can be no more attraction to money, women, sexual lust, lying, cheating, etc.  We wait on Him, until we're healed and/or until He comes!

Are we willing to believe it?

1 Corinthians 6:9-20:

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.11 And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

FLEE SEXUAL IMMORALITY

12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
13 Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.14 Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!16 Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “The two shall become one flesh.”17 But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.18 Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral man sins against his own body.19 Or do you not know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?20 For you were bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

Modern-day Canaanites!

The world lies in the power of the evil one (1 John 5:19).

The world wants to lie and cover-up its evils.  The proof of their evils is then covered up and denied.

This is what they're trying to do with the truth of the evidence of early child sacrifice while they indict God of evil.

The Bible is SO TRUE how it depicts the human heart that strays from God:

"But he who sins against me does violence to his own soul; All those who hate me love death" --- Proverbs 8:36

Today it's no different.  Those who will be for sacrificing their children in our modern-day child sacrificing rituals for convenience make excuses to do it and defend it.    But one day, they'll deny that they were for it and continue turning to The God of Heaven to blaspheme His mighty name.

Continue to pray for end of human abortion.

The days are evil.  Judgment is upon us.

Repent, The Kingdom of God is here!

Check out my 2-part video on the conversation between a popular YouTube "atheist" and Christian apologist, William Lane Craig concerning the judgment of the Canaanites:   Was it genocide or Godly judgement?
